  • The Knitwear of Dreams Edit

My love for knitwear has been a slow burner. For as long as I can remember I have refrained from shopping knitwear, always just seeing it as a complete and utter hassle. Knitted jumpers are hard to store, hard to wash, hard to moderate your temperature and in my hey-day when all I cared about was being sexy, knitwear I deemed to be hard to look sexy in! I would much rather layer under a silky blouse or shirt than ever wear a jumper. And so I have dabbled in knitwear, always of the lower price bracket, mostly Primark, occasionally H&M and Zara and only out of absolute necessity. The best knits I ever had are the ones I stole from my mum, some vintage (even vintage Next) and others she had made herself!

However, fast forward to today and I am obsessed with all the knits and I kid you not, the chunkier the better! I am very cautious about the knits I wear, I quite like oversized and long in the body or embellished in a way that suits my shape. In theory this particular Zara knit shouldn’t have worked for me but the accentuated shoulders and the angle of the ruffles created all the right illusions for me!

I like my knitwear mostly to make a statement, whether it’s a bold colour, embellished shoulders, embellished sleeves or a button or pearl detail just to for that extra something special. I love knits worn with jeans and heels or a good leather trouser and a pointed boot. Regardless how many years we may have fast forward, I can’t lie, I still like to try and bring the sexy back!

Here’s some of my favourite knitwear pieces on the high street, and a few luxe pieces from Ulla Johnson, Isabel Marrant and Love Shack Fancy – just to be admired and for a point of comparison. I always love to see exactly how high fashion trickles down from the high street.

I hope you like the edit ladies! x
