    Shackets on the high street

If you have been looking forward to autumn as much as I have, then you will be glad to finally feel that chill in the air in the mornings. It’s the perfect temperature to throw on your shacket over just about whatever it is you’re wearing just to add that extra layer! Typically, a shacket is considered a slightly more casual form of outerwear and in all honesty I am not entirely down for investing in outerwear that can only work for a specific category in my wardrobe, unless it’s highly functional. However, I love dressing down dressier items in my wardrobe with more casual pieces to create a more relaxed and effortless outfit, all while feeling just a little bit glam.

The key to nailing a shacket that works across your wardrobe, that can look just as good on the school run as it would thrown over a slip dress and a pair of chunky boots, is to get the print and/or colour and the length right. This one I’ve styled works perfectly because it’s not too long or oversized, it’s monochrome and worn over an all black outfit, can actually look quite sharp. Checks in multi colours or anything that starts to resemble a lumberjack shirt tend to lean towards a more casual style, where as a black leather shacket adds instant edginess.

Here are some of my favourite shackets for dressing up, dressing down and adding a vibe!
