…and Some Words on Body Positivity

I will warn you ladies before watching this video, although I am sure you have already watched it and that’s why you are here, but I really had to dig deep to create many of the outfits for this video. Firstly, it is a rarity that I will find myself out on the town on a Saturday night and secondly, I have never tried in any way shape or form to be even remotely sexy since having Allegra.
I desperately wanted to change things up and give myself a bit of a style challenge and in stepping outside of my comfort zone and creating these looks ON ME to share really just shows the distance I have come. This video really is a testament to how much my (body) confidence has grown since becoming a mama and the realisation of this just makes me want to shout out to all the other mamas and women out there struggling with their body image, their style, their careers, or mum guilt even and let them know it gets better, we get better!
Back to the looks in this video, not only am I rocking new trends, like neon and denim cycling shorts (or short skinnies as some people call them) but there’s some cleavage on show in there too!!! I am even styling a close to the body bodysuit – yep, for me that is MAJOR. These are all things I would never ever have worn or done even when my body was slim and trim, let alone now – when there’s issues to contend with like back fat and the good old mum tum! I am not going to go as far as to say I have a complete ‘NO FUCKS GIVEN’ attitude towards the weight that I have gained since becoming a mama, because that would be a lie. I am also not saying that I have got my sexy back. But I am ready to celebrate my womanhood and my motherhood by enjoying the clothes that I WANT to wear and not the clothes I feel like I have to wear to disguise my body’s changes.
This video is a celebration people, of feeling good about ourselves, of enjoying the skin we are in in spite of its imperfections and knowing that life is too short not to celebrate and not to love ourselves. I am turning 35 on Saturday and I will tell you this for one thing, I am so ready to celebrate and for the first time in ages I can say, I am so proud of me!
Enjoy the video ladies and have an absolutely fabulous Easter weekend x
