I’ve accepted the fact that cheese and wine and long nights around the dining table with friends and family trumps spending the night in the club raving it up these days! But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love to party! Whether it’s a house party, a gathering that escalates to dancing the night away, a Christmas party or festive work event, if the tunes are playing, I will be dancing. One thing I wouldn’t dream of doing now though, that I used to do in my clubbing hey days, is go out wearing shoes that in any way compromise my comfort or my mobility! I don’t know at what point in life that stopped, but I just won’t do it and consequently, over the years my heels collection has evolved.

Before I used to seek out the highest of heels, literally the higher the better. Nowadays, if I’m going dancing, only platforms need apply and if they have an ankle strap too – then that is ultimately my perfect shoe. Although platforms are having a major fashion moment and are leading the shoe trend this season, for me, platforms, just like cowboy boots, will always have a place in my shoe collection, trend or no trend. This is why I am also very happy to spend a little more on my platforms and I have a nice little selection from Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci, to Chloe and Nicholas Kirkwood. One of my favourite platform designers, is specialist platform designer Terry De Havilland and I have been a proud owner of my Terry De Havilland Margaux platform wedges in pewter for a good ten years, they are one of the most comfortable shoes I own and so perfect for partying.
So here it is Ladies, my platforms perfect for partying edit, from luxury, premium and high street, different price points and heel heights…
