Level Up Your Leather

It is this time of year when the leather lovers get out their leathers! Whether it’s faux, vegan or leather, it’ is leather season. Asides from our shoes and handbags and potentially a biker jacket, the warmer months take away our opportunity to live life in leather. But autumn winter 2022 feels like the leather fashion gods have answered us leather lovers prayers, because leather is everywhere. It’s in every garment, in every single style, every colourway and every vibe. The leather trend has well evolved from a black leather trouser or legging, a black leather mini, maybe a leather shirt in tan, cream or black, certainly a black leather biker jacket and maybe an oversized leather jacket ‘cool girl’ style.
This leather trend has levelled up and upped the ante tend fold and if you’re a leather lover regardless of the trends just like me, you’ll want to embrace this fashion moment and run with it! I mean, I personally don’t think I’ll want to miss out on the opportunity to rock a leather trench, or even better yet, depending on your angle, a leather trench in hot pink. Or gold heeled slouchy boots that will look incredible at Christmas parties styled with an oversized tuxedo jacket or a black velvet skirt suit.
I am getting so excited because I love items in my wardrobe that instantly elevate an outfit with very little effort. You throw a leather trench over leggings and a t-shirt or even jeans and a t-shirt, then not only have you elevated that outfit but a leather trench plays on the predictability of the fabric we’d expect a trench to be made from. I like a little bit of unpredictability in fashion. Sometimes it’s only a subtle detail, like a black or even navy leather trench instead of cotton or wool twill, or a Kelly green biker jacket instead of black, a black leather cami instead of silk… it just changes things up ever so slightly. And if you’re not about to start wearing leathers in all the colours of the rainbow, then opting for leather in garments that you wouldn’t typically see made from leather and upping the ante on the garments you would, is a great place to start levelling up your leathers…
