If you follow me on Instagram, which most of you here do, then you will know that hats have become almost as essential to my outfits as my outerwear. The amazing thing about hats is, they are able to add detail and change up a look with very minimal effort and very minimal financial investment. A £25 cap from the likes of Mango or New Look for example, can transform many different outfits and elevate the most simple looks. With the economic climate we are currently living in, accessorising, restyling and investing wisely in the pieces that will work hard for us in our wardrobes is key.

What I love about hats, is not only how effortlessly they elevate and transform an outfit, but can be functional and timesaving too. Protecting us from the elements and saving us time in the mornings, when doing our hair or even our makeup just isn’t an option but we still want a LOOK. When you’ve got a good hat on, a bad hair day never looked so good.

It has to be said, although all hats will add an extra layer of detail and interest to an outfit, not all hats are made equal and in my humble opinion, not all will elevate a look. Admittedly, it’s not likely that you’ll ever see me in a beanie or any sort of hat that doesn’t have structure. My hats of choice have a wide brim or peak What I look for in my hats is structure, which I feel not only suits my style but instantly sharpens and elevates a simple look.

Here are some hats on the high street, some premium and some luxury inspired by own collection and that might be able to inspire yours. Eugenia Kim and Ruslan Baginskiy are two brands that are currently on my radar and I am hoping, should I still be relying on my hats for those days when there is absolutely no time to do my hair, that I’ll manage pick one up in the Black Friday sales.
Here’s some razor sharp hats that will make your outfits a cut above the rest…
