I’ve been seriously impressed by H&M’s little black dresses this season. Although I wouldn’t say that a drop waist cotton dress is necessarily an LBD or even a party dress for that matter, it is one of those dresses that acts as a blank canvass perfect for styling up, changing the vibe and making it your own. I am particularly loving H&M at this time of the year, when looking and feeling my best is important, but I don’t want to splash the cash.
H&M is a retailer that you can be sure you’ll get what you pay for, spend a little extra to get that bit more detail or better quality. Spend a little less and you can get something as simple as this dress and rely on the accessories to add all the detail your heart desires. After all, it’s the accessories that you can wear over and over again, so why not spend a little less on your dress and pay more attention to the styling?
My formula for styling the party season has been exactly this, simple dresses, short enough to show off my legs (the last good bit left of this mum bod) and with the imperative puff sleeve of dreams, which is very indicative of the now and nods to the trend nicely. Lastly, a good shoe, often of the platform kind if I am heading out for the night, because platforms were made for dancing, And of course all the accessories or not, depending on the vibe.
